The fax machine and the Great Oregon Trail have the same thing in common. 1843, which is when they both started. According to RedditFed, the Electric Telegraph machine invented by Scottish genius Alexander Bain was patented on 27th May 1843. Coincidentally in the US 1843 also marked the beginning of the great migration in American history called the “The Oregon Trail”. A thousand emigrants headed in their wagons to Oregon to create new settlements and history.
